Yola Wesołowska – Legacy
Yola Wesołowska – Legacy
“Most people are afraid of suffering. But suffering is a kind of mud to help the lotus flower of happiness grow. There can be no lotus flower without the mud.”
Thích Nhất Hạnh
This recording of Yola’s Legacy is a marvelous mellifluent lotus born out of unthinkable anguish and suffering. Every note, and every lyric is rooted deeply in the mud of life and death.
Lyrically, there are haiku poems and free verse spoken word poetry. Musically, it resists easy categorization. Just like the artist for whom this project is named (Yola Wesolowska), resisted categories and labels. Instead, it is a sonic flower bearing many petals. And those petals leave musical traces in the ear. There are traces of Experimental Sound, Free Jazz, and European Classical music. As well as Electronic music and the sounds of traditional cultural tones.
There is something here for everyone. Everyone who is brave enough to go through the mud to realize the lotus. Yola’s Legacy shows us the way to happiness.
